A client who raises North American farmed deer and elk asks you to remove of the entire soft antler of several animals in the first 55-65 days of growth, a practice called "velveting."

What should you tell the client?

A - Raising deer and elk for velveting is reportable to the authorities and the procedure is illegal

B - The velvet can only be sold in North America; sale of velvet antlers internationally is banned

C - Velvet antler removal is painless, but adequate restraint is very important to minimize stress in captive-raised cervids

D - Antlers fall off on their own at the end of mating season so they can harvest the velvet at that time

E - You can legally perform the procedure with proper analgesia
