A 4-year old Quarter horse gelding is presented with a 3-day history of poor appetite, and stiffness in the hind limbs.

On physical exam there is eyelid edema and conjunctivitis, with reddening and protrusion of the third eyelid, mild icterus and a moderate rhinitis. In the last 24 hours, the horse has developed a cough and ventral edema and limb edema.

T= 105.7 F (41.0 C) HR= 36 RR= 12

Equine infectious anemia (EIA) is on the differential diagnostic list. What other diagnosis should be considered for a horse with edema, icterus and fever?
